Tiranga on the Moon, Foot in the Ditch

So I am that unpatriotic Indian (I know you won't even call me an Indian, if I am unpatriotic), who cannot make any sense of the current plan of Indian scientists to send an Indian spacecraft (with a pariotic Indian inside) to the moon by circa 2020.

I don't want to unneccesarily oppose this whole project - I simply want to have a debate (with whoever cares to talk) about whether we really should go to the moon spending Rs.20,000 crores, or should our scientists (the best minds of our country) rather use their talent and efforts to bring simple drinking water, sanitization, basic health facilities, better roads, safer trains, healthier foods, cleaner environment, cheaper housing, and so on (which a larger percentage of Indians don't have at the moment).
